This building is a genuine example of Queensland colonial architecture and has been refurbished in keeping with that original style. The original Room configurations have been maintained with high ceilings and many of these rooms opening onto private balconies. This building also includes a number of Suites and Apartments. The Terrace House Apartments are similarly set in a Heritage Listed Building also dating back to 1890. These Apartments have also been refurbished in keeping with their genuine Queensland colonial architecture incorporating the original fireplaces, kitchen areas and staircases. These provide spacious and economical accommodation for families or small or large groups travelling together. The 15 level Metropole Tower Building has been constructed above the Astor building containing 112 Tower Apartments, 28 Club Apartments and 2 Executive Suites set on the top of the building. These Apartments are all self-contained with private balconies overlooking the City Centre and surrounding suburbs. These buildings have been fitted with intelligent early detection fire sensor systems and a fully integrated sprinkler extinguisher system to give ultimate fire security and protection. The Apartments also feature an individual air-conditioning system that, heats, cools and replaces the air of each individual apartment ie. No shared air. The private balconies give the option of fresh air intake in conjunction with that of the air-conditioning system. The lifts are operated by smartcard security giving individual floor security to the guests on each level. Room entry doors are similarly operated by smartcard security.The Astor Metropole is ideally located on the historic and elevated Wickham Terrace offering guests the benefit of a location three blocks from the city centre yet above and away from the noise, congestion and intrusions of the city heart particularly in regard to vehicle or taxi access. The Astor Metropole is also located diagonally opposite the northern entrance to Central Station and a short walk or distance to all the main city attractions. The close proximity to the city centre also gives access and availability to the various complimentary coach services providing transport to their associated attractions.
